Rochester Chamber Music Society: Marinus Ensemble

RCMS

Rochester Chamber Music Society presents its first concert of the new season, German Classics performed by the Marinus Ensemble, on Saturday, September 9 at 7:30 pm at Christ United Methodist Church.

Explore three great Germanic composers in this lush program featuring works by Mozart, Schubert, and Schumann. Hear one of the first major works for piano quartet, Mozart's Quartet in G Minor. Then listen to the haunting Schubert Notturno in E-Flat, written for piano trio in the autumn of 1827 juxtaposed with Schumann's only piano quartet in the same key.

The Marinus Ensemble, based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, was founded by Rochester natives Joseph Kuipers (cello) and Rachel Kuipers Yonan (viola) in the spring of 2011 as a new chamber music collective. The roster consists of twenty artists, all of whom are acclaimed in their own right and who received training at such renowned schools as the Curtis Institute, Juilliard School and the New England Conservatory. For this concert Joseph and Rachel are joined by Grace Park (violin) and Ellen Hwangbo (piano).
