Glee's Heather Morris Under Fire For Defending Tweet About Mark Salling

Heather Morris drew backlash for how she responded to a tweet involving her late Glee co-star Mark Salling.

Everything went down after Morris’ fellow Glee castmate, Kevin McHale, retweeted a fan’s nostalgic tweet about the show’s Christmas episode, “A Very Glee Christmas.” All the actors in the screenshot appeared as they normally were, save for Salling, whose face was noticeably covered with a vomiting emoji.

As Gleeks know, Salling, who pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography charges in 2017, tragically took his own life at the age of 35 just months before his 2018 sentencing.

Morris took issue with the antic and responded accordingly. “The vomit face on Marks [sic] face is offensive,” the actress chimed in, immediately attracting criticism from Gleeks.

“Nah i’m sorry but if my friend was a whole P—PHILE, their a— is getting cut off and forgotten idc how close we are. especially if i have children myself,” one fan responded, whereas another added, “Mark sharing child porn was offensive.”

Someone else wrote, “You have children, little children and you are standing up for Mark? A man who was about to go to prison for exploitation [sic] of children, and had a ton of evidence of that on this computer and in his home. It’s not like it’s a rumor it was true. Love the character not the Actor.”

Despite the harsh response, Morris only doubled down on her stance with a message imploring compassion from fellow Gleeks.

“We did not loose [sic] just 2 cast members, we lost 3,” Morris added, referring to late costars Cory Monteith, who passed in 2013, and Naya Rivera, who died this summer. “And it is SO incredible tough to have to act like that 3rd one is invisible, because even though his actions are unjustifiable, he was a part of our family at one point and he was mentally SICK. Yes pedophelia [sic] is a sickness but…"

Defeatedly, Morris concluded, “Although I don't want to have to say all that, its truthful. So THANK YOU for treated [sic] me with such disrespect and unkindness during a time that I can't get through a day without balling my eyes out at the loss of my entire Glee family... thank you.”
