Substitute Teacher Charged With 19 Counts Of Child Molestation

A substitute teacher at an elementary school in Georgia was arrested and is facing 19 charges of child molestation. Police said that Amelia Ressler, 30, engaged in "indecent and immoral acts while in the presence of school-aged children" after she allegedly masturbated in front of her second-grade students at Mt. Zion Elementary School. There were 19 children in class at the time.

Investigators obtained video footage recorded by Ressler that shows her touching herself while sitting at a desk in the front of the class.

"It's disturbing. That's what it is," Carroll County Communication Director Ashley Hulsey told WGCL. "Where she was sitting, it wasn't like it was a closed desk and couldn't look up and visually see what she was doing at the time."

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is conducting forensic interviews with the students, a process that could take several weeks. Ressler could face additional charges based on what investigators learn from the interviews.

"We appreciate the dedication Carroll County Schools has for the safety of their students as they are working diligently to communicate with all parents of students affected, and we will continue to work closely with them during the remainder of the investigation," the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
