The Johnny Depp trial has been quite the spectacle for both Depp and Amber heard. They both, it seems, lived through a very volatile and toxic relationship that seemed pretty abusive in one way or another. Heard though has had a tough time in the public eye keeping her image a float. Many things that have happened in the trial from her behavior, to her actions in the relationship have turned fans against her.
A Change.org petition is now circulating to have her removed from the Aquaman sequel. Warner Bros. will not speak on the controversy, but has cut many scenes with her in it, limiting her screen time. Heard’s agent testified the actress’s role in Aquaman 2 was reduced because of “the lack of chemistry between her and Jason” .
The petition though has surpassed 4.3 million signatures last week, Johnny Depp fans are now searching for the next Queen Mera to replace the actress in question.
A few actress have been suggested including Emilie Clarke:
Also, a front runner that fans love for the part is Blake Lively.
The petition reads: “After the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and all the negative ‘energy’ around the latest, and since Blake Lively is a much likeable actress and human being.”
Comments on the petition are quite harsh for the actress. One reads, “Amber Heard is a vile person, and should not be privileged to portray a beloved female hero. Blake Lively is a lovely and kind person, with far greater acting talent. She is the kind of person who should portray a hero. She’s someone young girls can look up to, and should aspire to be like.” Another commented, “Blake Lively is a treasure, and an A grade actor. Heard is a disgrace to all the women who have been through domestic violence.”
Aquaman 2 has the studio hoping to beat the previous box office records grossing over $1 billion, making it the highest-grossing DC film of all time. Filming has already been completed and reshooting with a new actress would be CRAZY costly for the studio. The only way they are going to do that, is if they fear a box office flop with her in it. She's not really a main character, so I think they can survive without the change.
