Parmalee’s Matt and Scott Thomas teamed up with another brother duo, songwriters and God’s Country hosts Dan and Reid Isbell, to cover an early 90s classic by Travis Tritt.
Matt and Scott appeared on a recent episode of the podcast. The “Fell In Love With A Cowgirl” artists — lead vocals/guitar and drums, respectively — former their band with cousin Barry Knox and lifelong friend Josh McSwain. On the podcast, the Parmalee artists and the Isbell brothers delivered a rendition of “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares).” Tritt released the ballad on his sophomore studio album It’s All About To Change, in 1991. That album also included “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin,’ “Nothing Short of Dying,” “Anymore,” “Bible Belt” and more.
“This week Reid and Dan host a set of brothers for another BROPOD. They are hosting Scott and Matt of the #1 country band, Parmalee. They immediately dive in on brother wars, taking punches to the face, and what growing up as Irish Twins looked like. Matt and Scott share how they passed time during quarantine by fishing in Alaska and why they believe salt water fish is superior to fresh water. They share their journey as a band and in a vulnerable moment Reid shares what it is like sharing all of this with his brother. The episode ends with a classic Travis Tritt Gravorite!”
Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Colbie Caillat and others.
“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
