TMSG: Firefighters Use Thermal Camera To Find Dog Through Fire

A fire broke out in a multi-unit garage in South Dakota. According to the Pierre Fire Chief, the fire was set accidentally and thankfully all of the humans got out ok.

However, Theresa Jimenez was worried about her dog that was in one of the garages and she couldn't get to it on the way out. Ryan Cumbow, a volunteer firefighter arrived on scene and was told to look for the pet. But due to all of the smoke, the firefighters couldn't see anything so instead, they used a thermal imaging camera that detects head to find the dog, Zena.

Zena was found lying on the ground almost immediately with the camera and then the firefighters rushed in to get the pup. They started doing compressions right away and were able to save the dog. Zena fully recovered after about one hour.
